Akari Saito is an illustrator based in Japan.

Active primarily in children's books, print media, and web media.
In my creative process, I strive to capture not just detailed depictions, but the senses of atmosphere and temperature.

I aim to portray the subtle emotions of people and creatures, and the stories hidden behind them.

I focus especially on the perspective of small, easily overlooked things hidden in nature.

Through the delicate texture of watercolors, I endeavor to create works that invite viewers to look closely, notice tiny discoveries, and naturally imagine the stories within.

I graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design, where I majored in Healing Art and engaged in mural creation for children's wards, among other activities.

After graduating in 2014, my experiences involved working with imported toys and teaching children's art and craft classes, and these steps have deeply enriched my expressions for children's books and media.
